August 1, 2022A fun experience and an inexpensive but solid meal - Family run - self serve - friendly staff - minimal decor - no nonsense pies - rock bottom pricing. If any one or more of those adjectives sound promising then... read more Goddards at Greenwich pies are for you (eat in or take out). If you expect more then you will be disappointed by this replica of an old fashioned pie shop - they even have cold and hot eels on the menu! Sure the traditional pies are all minced beef, but the Full Range offers a broad selection: lamb, chicken, steak and kidney and even a vegetarian cheese and onion pie - all offered with and without mash. A fun experience with a tourist bias but there many obviously local folk eating there.

April 16, 2022Yum...wonderfully satisfying pie and mash - Considering Goddard's has been preparing their pie and mash recipe for over a hundred years, it's not surprising they're really good at it. It was recommended in all the guide... read more books, so of course we had to drop by for a try. The menu included a range of traditional meat pies (mainly beef as well chicken and lamb) but also some non-meat pies and even gluten-free options, all of which were accompanied by mash potatoes. The meals were wholesome and filling, and very tasty with the brown gravy that came along with each plate. There are dining areas both downstairs and upstairs (greater capacity with latter), which are are fairly no-frills. Do note that plates (collected downstairs) are hot, so a little care is needed if carrying the food upstairs.

Firstly I never write reviews. But I believe that this restaurant deserves my time and effort to write this one .
I originally come from Battersea in London. And I... read more was brought up on pie mash & licquer as a child.
I had just visited the Greenwich Planaterium when I saw the Goddards pie mash& licquer signage. so I thought that I would give it a try . To be honest I was not expecting much from my lunch here as a few years ago I visited a pie &mash shop closer to where I originally lived (Battersea ) and was very dissapointed with the food .But right from the moment that I walked through Goddards door seeing the traditional benches the ambience that you feel. And the friendly service that I received from the young girl that served me right down to the hot traditional pie mash & licquer that was how I remember it (The pie was proper minced beef with the pastry topping as I remember it .The mash was better than I remember more tasty & smooth and the Licquer sauce was thick and flavourful as it should be. My meal was Delicious . I believe that what ever country you come from to visit London IF you truly want to experience what Londoners traditionally ate when they where growing up and want the 100% traditional pie mash& Licquer experience with ambience and delicious food and friendly service and numerous tourist places to visit right on Goddards door step
I can honestly say that I believe this to be the most traditional Delicious tasting friendly pie mash & licquer shop in London
Which before I left I told the man that was cooking the pies behind the counter my views on the restaurant and that I would be writing a review of this fantastic reasonably priced restaurant of which I will most deffinetly will be visiting again when I am in London
Please dont just take my word for it . Visit it and Taste for yourself .
It is only a 2 minuite walk from the Maritime Museum in Greenwich

We went to this place 10 years ago on our first date - had the perfect pie and mash their apple crumble for dessert. I honestly think it’s the best... read more crumble I’ve ever had! Today we went back to Greenwich to walk around and enjoy the market.
It was nostalgic to go back to Goddards and were pleasantly surprised to see they did dessert for takeaway. The staff are lovely, as they were out of stock but we came in back in half hour and they saved us two portions.
It lasted the 2 hour journey home and was the perfect dessert on a cold winters day!!
Would definitely recommend Goddards

November 22, 2020Clean and spacious. Order and pay for your food at the bar and then waiter yourself, similar to a national trust. Service was with a smile, quick and efficient. Food... read more was tasty though more gravy than recognisable content and the volume of mash was less than half that of the pie.

We went to Greenwich with 3 generations from Canada. We had to try pie and Mash in a proper shop.
The pies were lovely and the mash was nice. The... read more gravy and liquor were lovely and plentiful.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The prices were good as well, 1 pound for a cup of tea in London is practically unheard of nowadays, especially in a tourist area like Greenwich.
The location is lovely, right on Greenwich market next to the Cutty Sark.
The whole place is steeped in history.
It’s not a fancy restaurant by any stretch of the imagination, but for good value honest to god good old fashioned food, this is the place to visit.
